Uploading Images and Graphics and Managing the Media Library
The Media Library is where you upload and manage images and other media, such as Pdfs, on the site. Along with the Envira Galleries and the Pages sections, this is one of the areas you need to master.
The Media Gallery is the pool to which you will and from which you will draw the visual content for the site.
For an in-depth look at the interface a WordPress area like this, see the Pages description. Here, we’ll give you a down and dirty look at how to get in and out of the Media Library, because that’s mostly how you’ll use it!
Using the Media Library
- Click on the Media tab in the left-hand Admin menu.
- You will be taken to the Media Library, where you can view all the images, videos, and audio files that have been uploaded to the site.
- To upload a new file, click the “Add New” button at the top of the page.
- You can either drag and drop the file you want to upload into the designated area, or you can click the “Select Files” button to choose a file from your computer.
- Once the file has finished uploading, you can add a title, caption, description, and alt text to the file by clicking on the “Edit” button.
- You can also edit these details by clicking on the file in the Media Library and clicking the “Edit” button.
- You can organize your files by using the “Filter by” dropdown menu, which allows you to filter files by type, date, or status.
- You can also search for specific files by using the search bar at the top of the Media Library.
- To delete a file, click on the file in the Media Library and click the “Delete Permanently” button.
- The Media Library also uses the Folders Pro plugin. It works exactly the same way it does in the Pages section.
That’s it! The Media Library is a powerful tool that allows you to manage all your media files in one place. With these simple steps, you should be able to use it to easily upload, edit, and insert media into your WordPress site.
Newsletters and Uploading PDFs
When adding a newsletter you need two media types:
- A thumbnail image of the newsletter front page
- The actual Pdf of the newsletter
You add the thumbnail through Envira Gallery. You must upload the actual PDF to the Media Library.
After the PDF is uploaded and put into its folder, open the Editor and copy the URL of the Newsletter. Then go to Envira Gallery and open the metadata of the thumbnail. Replace the address in the URL. This forces Envira to open the actual PDF, rather than just show a large version of the Thumbnail. Fo more on adding a newsletter to the site go here.
